Code Challenge – Try something new.

This is invigorating. I’m sick of my excuses of ‘time’ being a limiter in my exploring other programming languages and environments. It’s not like I’m looking to ditch PHP, WordPress, or any of my current focus. There are things to be learned out there though. Until you see things done a different way, you’re likely to become complacent in your ways. Exploration and discovery is super important. Knowledge gained in other areas doesn’t have to stay there, it can be brought back home.

I’ve had Rails and iOS on my wish list for a long time now. By the end of today I’m going to pick one and run with it, I hope you do too!

  1. Mine is iOS. It’s a tough transition to program in that environment. So much ceremony in the language and tools. That’s been my biggest barrier.

  2. I took the “learn something new” plunge late last year when I started working through the CS193p iPhone Development class that Stanford has on iTunesU. I’m working on my first independent Cocoa app now. Learning is the fountain of youth.
