I’ve said a number of times how much I enjoy peeking over a shoulder to see how people work. The insight is awesome, and I really enjoy comparing how I do things to the way other people do things. I’ve learned the bulk of what I know by following that method and it provides a lot of context to certain decisions we’re able to make.
GitHub has been a shining example of great design, and they seem to be focusing even more on it as time goes on. It’s stellar. Not everyone is going to have the same opinion on the directions taken or changes made, though. Greg Raiz took some time to walk us through his ideas behind a navigation change.
Accounts of process such as these are eye opening and valuable, especially when presented to clients. Resulting conversation is targeted and useful.
