This quick read really hits home with me. I’m easily distracted when sitting in the audience of a presentation, even if I’m very much interested in the subject matter. I find that even 30 minutes after the presentation is over, it’s difficult for me to recount the details even for the parts I knew I was paying attention to.
There was a time I was in the habit of taking notes at various speaking events, and it really did help me better remember the details down the line. I stopped because I find it uncomfortable to finagle taking notes in any capacity without a table-like surface in front of me, so the act of note taking in and of itself turned into a distraction.
I think I need to get over it and start taking notes again.
