This is a great piece that resonates well with me. When I was part of a larger team at an agency we’d hit this roadblock often, and the same results would surface. It’d be cyclical though. Out of nowhere everyone on the team would be pumped about planning a project top-to-bottom before we got started. “Now this project was going to go smooth as butter!” we all thought to ourselves. Inevitably circumstances changed shortly after, not for the worse, just changed as they always do, and previously laid plans needed to be changed slightly. Those changes though are rarely discussed via committee like the initial planning sessions which creates unrest ultimately leading to resentment on various levels. Working on a team and keeping everyone on that team happy is no small task.
