LukeW | Multi-Device Layout Patterns.

I’m always thrilled to see a post from Luke Wroblewski. This time he’s establishing some convention surrounding responsive design patterns.

Responsive websites feel like the Internet maturing. If we think back to it, everything was sparked by the iPhone. I’m not trying to fanboy anything but if we’re realistic that was the catalyst. And thank goodness for that.

We’re still trying to figure it all out though. Working with responsive design is as limiting as it is exciting and it’s really fascinating to see the patterns coming out of it. The latest trend has become, as Luke defines it, Off Canvas responsive design. It’s really thrilling to see something like this because it completely shakes things up. Great stuff.

  1. Jonathan, I put out a responsive CSS library a few months ago. Still trying to get some traction for it, as I think it could solve a lot of people’s problems. If you get a chance, let me know if you think it’s useful.
