Opera Developer News – Opera Mobile 12, and introducing Opera Mini Next.
Opera will always have a place in my heart, I continually look up to them for the work they do. Not only that, I look up to them for their determination in such a crowded market. There are a lot of big players when it comes to browsers, and to continue staying relevant is nothing to take lightly.
Opera Mobile 12 is looking really nice! They’re adding tons of stuff, but by far the thing that’s most mind blowing to me is the ability to run Dragonfly on your computer to debug the site you’re viewing on your phone.
This will make debugging a dream in Opera Mobile! I sincerely hope either I’ve overlooked the iOS equivalent to this, or they catch wind of what Opera is doing and implement something similar. It’s genius.

Hey Jonathan, worth noting that Opera Dragonfly’s remote debugging capability has actually been around since…I think 2008 or so. Only recently have we started seeing equivalent moves from other players, with slightly different approaches (for instance, Blackberry PlayBook lets you run a debug server on the device and you connect your desktop machine to it – sort of the reverse of what Opera Dragonfly does – and Google Chrome on Android got developers all excited recently as they just introduced tethered – via USB – debugging). Not aware of anything iOS related…I’m guessing it’ll be somehow integrated in their giant SDK 😉
Oh dear, I’m really showing how out of the loop I’ve been with Opera, aren’t I? That’s so fantastic to hear, I’m going to take some time to have a play around with it just as soon as I can, thanks so much for the heads up!
