Responsive viewport units – destroy/dstorey.

I’m going to be honest. There are certain parts of CSS3 that have me nervous. It’s not that I’m intimidated about using them, they just break the lid off what we once thought was impossible.

How the heck can you wrap your mind around some of this stuff? It’s inevitable that we’ll be able to use it some day, but with advances like this the role of designer and front end developer are merging even more.

I don’t mean the front end developer that’s rocking worlds with the best JavaScript I’ve ever seen, I more-so mean the designer who hasn’t written code before. How are they going to take advantage of what’s to be possible without knowing how it all works under the hood? My mind goes crazy about this stuff.

  1. I find myself having to quote Star Wars in relation to your question in the 2nd paragraph: “Do or do not… there is no try.”

As far as a designer that’s never touched code before, there’s more to be concerned about in that situation than just newer advances in CSS3.
