Many of us are self taught. The trouble with self teaching in our industry has a lot of angles, many of which succumb to the issue of information quickly expiring and no longer being informational. We work with specifications, with software, many things that have version numbers. Attributes change version to version and the information associated with each is essential to learning.
O’Reilly is taking a new approach with publishing the Fourth Edition of CSS: The Definitive Guide. They label it as ‘serializing’ the release and I think it could be something we see a lot more of in the education space.
