This is a great tip. For me, distraction is by far my biggest downfall when it comes to productivity. Even when I’m distracted by productive things it’s taking away from what I set out to get done.
One of the main reasons I’m so attracted to GTD is the concept of an Inbox for literally anything you have to do. I found that if I can get it in an inbox, I’ve trained myself to let go of it until the appropriate time.
As mentioned in the article, it doesn’t always apply to thoughts that can’t be converted into actionable items, but not getting them out of my head can prove to be just as disastrous to the task at hand.
