Stop whining and start hiring remote workers – (37signals).

I don’t often link to 37signals svn posts. It’s not because I don’t agree with them, it’s because they take off like wildfire. This one is no exception, but the take home message is short and sweet.

The world is smaller than it’s ever been, even down to the modern working office. From what I’ve seen, when it comes to companies bigger than a few people, virtual offices often operate exponentially smoother than physical offices. I completely understand why, too. Removing the location restriction gets you the best candidate for the job that you can afford, people are comfortable in their environment, office politics are kept to a minimum, and more work gets done in comparison.

If you’re in the position to hire, please reconsider the requirement of having to be on site, you’ll likely be better off in this industry.
