Why Javascript is a Joy

Why Javascript is a Joy.

If I were forced to choose one thing to explain what I’m most excited about in my job it would have to be JavaScript. It feels like the Wild West to a degree out here, and people are doing some amazing things with it.

There is immense knowledge to be gained in JavaScript as tested software principles are making it into new frameworks and libraries. There’s also the purists who are writing only native JavaScript and that gets me pumped as well.

Getting better at JavaScript has been my goal year in and year out for the past few years, and I don’t see that changing any time soon for a number of reasons covered in the article.

  1. I agree with “It feels like the Wild West”. There are new frameworks and libraries popping up every day. In looking at many of them, it’s amazing how some of them simply don’t understand the context of the web.

It’s evolution reminds me of Java Applets and Flash. Everyone trying to re-invent everything in the name of ‘progression’ – but at the same time throwing the baby out with the bath water.

There is a balance to be had, and I think that’s the most important thing when it comes to JavaScript.
